Summer Figure Skating School is always a season of growth in a skater’s development. With the relief of the school year behind the skater, he/she has the ability to dedicate more time and energy toward their skating progress. The more time the skater spends training, the more progress the skater will make. The MFSC has had an organized summer program for over 46 years.
MFSC currently conducts its summer school at the Berry Event Center, located on the campus of Northern Michigan University, 3 blocks from beautiful Lake Superior beaches. The ice surface is Olympic size, 100′ x 200′. Locker room facilities for skaters and a separate locker room for coaches are available.
We offer a comprehensive summer Figure Skating program; generally six weeks of ice, a full test session at the conclusion, a variety of off-ice training classes, group moves classes, a highly qualified coaching staff which has been recognized by the Professional Skaters Association as an Excellence On Ice through Quality Coaching Facility. The MFSC welcomes guest coaches and their students to participate in our summer program.
The Marquette area offers many recreation opportunities within walking distance of the Berry Event Center, such as; beaches with lifeguards, bike-walking-jogging-roller blade paths, parks, YMCA facility with indoor pool, NMU physical education facility, and Marina with docking facilities. A number of restaurants are also within walking distance of the Arena.
Housing options available are: Tourist Park camping facilities (approximately 1 mile from arena), and many local motels.
