All MFSC coaches are members of the Professional Skaters Association (PSA), U.S. Figure Skating registered coaches (includes back ground screening), have met their yearly continuing education requirements, and teach beginners through the level listed.

Coach of regional, sectional & Jr National medalists, Coached many skaters through Gold Dance, Senior Moves, and Sr. Freeskate. Co-founder of high school figure skating in the U.P. of Michigan and Marquette High School. Coached high school figure skating for 10 years winning 5 State individual team championships. Most recently started and coordinates the U.P. of Michigan Basic Skills competition series.38 years experience coaching moves in the field, freeskate, ice dance, choreography, and hockey skills, She has held many positions within the MFSC such as; Learn to Skate Program Director, Summer Skating Director, Ice Show Director, Competition co-coordinator, Clinic Co-coordinator, along with many others executive positions. Main clinic presenter at the Stevens Pointe Clinic, Stevens Pointe, WI.
Attended multiple PSA International seminars learning from International & Olympic coaches such as: Frank Carroll, Audrey Weisiger, Kathy Casey, Dianna Ronayne, Natalia Dubova, Christy Ness, Ron Lundington, Ann Margreth Frei, Christy Krall, Kerry Leitch, Mitch Moyer, and many others.
Current PSA and USFS registered Level B member coach, having completed PSA basic accreditation and Hockey level 2. MHSAA-Coaches Advancement Program-Beginning Certification and Michigan concussion certification from the CDC.

Is a current PSA and USFS member, certified CPR/AED and has coached with the Marquette Figure Skating Club since 1985. Duties with the MFSC have included Basic Skills Director, Summer School on Ice Coordinator, Ice Show Co-Director, On and Off Ice Choreographer. She has assisted and participated in past MFSC clinics and presentations along side with World and Olympic coaches.Shirra has been invited as a guest coach to teach at Chilled Ponds -Chesapeake VA, Escanaba Area FSC, Escanaba MI, Timberline FSC- Wausau WI, and Michigan Tech University, Houghton MI along with many local hockey teams on skating power and technique.
Coach of Regional/Sectional competitors. Shirra has coached numerous students through the USFS Gold level in the disciplines of Moves in the Field, Dance, and Freestyle, 5 time Individual High School State Champions. Students Gayla Rovelsky won the National Artistic Young Adult (2005), and Robert Doepker went on to tour with Disney on Ice (Toy Story).
Her start, inspiration and love for the sport of figure skating came from her parents which were coaches of National Ice Dance and Pair teams. In addition to coaching Shirra is an authorized dealer of name brand skating equipment with Nan-Cees Skatique and can service your skates with a precision skate blade sharpening.

Has 19 years of coaching with the MFSC. For 10 years she has held the position of directing the Ice Show, Basic Skills Director, and Summer Skating Coordinator, along with other numerous duties. She coaches through Senior moves, Gold Dance and Novice Freeskate. In addition to figure skating, Jamie is involved in Superiorland Soccer, running and snowboarding. She has run numerous 5K and 10K races, completed a half marathon and a duathalon. She trains at BCubed fitness 3 days a week with Brett Conklin. Jamie holds a concussion certification through MSYSA and is a certified soccer referee through MSYSA. She has also coached local soccer teams.
